The Environmental Affairs Department has identified two areas in Limpopo and the Northern Cape where all asbestos should be removed.
Departmental spokesperson Albi Modise says they have started a process of helping the communities of Mafefe and Ga Mopedi, to completely remove asbestos.
“The two provinces that have been significantly affected by high levels of secondary asbestos contamination’s are Limpopo and the Northern Cape in these provinces there are specific areas that require remediation Mafefe in Limpopo province and Ga Mopedi in the Northern Cape are prioritized for remediation in the 2017/18 financial year.”
