Gap in energy availability has progressively decreased: Analyst

Energy expert Chris Yelland says the gap in the energy availability factor between last year and this year has progressively decreased.

Earlier today, Electricity Minister Dr Kgosientsho Ramokgopa announced during a media briefing on the ministerial energy action plan in Pretoria, that the electricity crisis has turned a corner, although not out of the woods yet.

Yelland says there is a fundamental change in what is happening.

“Right now, at the moment the gap is closed, in other words we have now reached the state where the energy availability factor this week is approximately the same as it was for the same week last year. So, we back to where we were last year. You might say it is not a good progress but it is a good progress considering how far behind we were.”
