Former African National Congress (ANC) Western Cape Chairperson Marius Fransman says he’s tested positive for the coronavirus (COVID-19). In a Facebook post, Fransman says he hasn’t been feeling well since his return from abroad two weeks ago.

He says he decided to do a test last week Monday in line with health protocols. Fransman says after waiting for a week for his results, they came back positive for the virus.

He says he is currently hospitalised but doing fine. Fransman has appealed to South Africans to practice good hygiene and adhere to the lockdown regulations.

Meanwhile, African Christian Democratic Party (ACDP) MP Steve Swart, who together with party leader Kenneth Meshoe tested positive for COVID -19, says he is recovering well at home after the diagnosis.

The pair tested positive after coming into contact with five foreigners at a religious event in the Free State earlier this month. They’ve been in self-isolation for 17 days.

Swart says the flu-like symptoms he had have cleared.
