Fourth suspect in Gardee murder case expected to appear in court

Reading Time: 2 minutes

A fourth suspect in connection to the murder case of Hillary Gardee, daughter of the former Economic Freedom Fighters (EFF) Secretary-General Godrich Gardee is expected to make his first appearance in the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court on Thursday.

He could not appear on Wednesday due to administrative issues, which forced the court to roll the matter to Thursday.

The 39-year-old suspect was arrested in Gauteng at Springs after allegedly killing another woman in Sundra in Delmas.

Police recently confirmed that the suspect confessed himself to have been part of Hillary Gardee’s murder.

The suspect is also facing two other murder cases which he allegedly committed in KaNyamazane, before fleeing to the Gauteng province.

The video below is reporting on the arrest of the fifth suspect:

Leave to appeal granted

Earlier, the Nelspruit Magistrate’s Court in Mbombela, Mpumalanga, granted the defence leave to appeal an earlier order to postpone the handing over of the indictment and docket.

The state requested a postponement on the matter to amend the indictment and add the fourth suspect in the case.

The defence says the state is playing games and delaying the matter further.

Sipho Mkhatshwa, Philemon Lukhele and Mduduzi Gama are facing a number of charges including murder, rape, kidnapping and conspiracy to commit murder.
