Health Minister Doctor Joe Phaahla says 14 million more people have to be vaccinated by December in order to reach government’s 70% target.
Phaahla is in Durban to round up the Vooma Vaccination Weekend Campaign. He says the initiative serves as a platform to intensify government’s national vaccine roll-out programme.
“Our target is to reach just at least 70% by the latest end of December, possibly the middle of December now to reach that number it means that we need to reach at least 27 million adult people the numbers of people who have already got at least one jab is just under 13 million so we need to reach by December we need to reach another 14 million people plus.”

Sites across the country were opened from Friday to vaccinate as many people as possible.
