Former radio Bop programme manager and presenter Edgar Dikgole has been laid to rest in Mahikeng, North West, on Saturday.

Dikgole died last Saturday at the age of 71, after battling a cancer-related illness for years.

Speakers described him as a dedicated professional.

COVID-19 regulations were observed as one of the architects of Radio Bop was laid to rest.

Brother ED, who was also affectionately called the Barry White of Soweto, touched many lives. He launched the careers of household names such as Tim Modise and Bob Mabena among others.

He is remembered for his loving nature and wisdom.

Popular Rap Artist Cassper Nyovest could not hold back tears as he talked about his step-father.

“A very gentle guy, very intelligent … always had elderly advice. I’m trying not to cry, but yeah,” says Nyovest.

Those who worked with the late Dikgole described him as a consummate professional.

“Edgar was a no-nonsense programme manager; a no-nonsense administrator. A perfectionist. A man who’d always be on hand, seeing to it that things are done the right way. A man who’d always go all out trying to get the best out of the best, and he’d go for all those who had the know-how, who had the knowledge, and of course, saying ‘guys, here’s an opportunity. Go for it,'” says radio presenter, Timothy Modise.

Edgar is survived by his daughter, son and two sisters.
