Five people are expected to appear in the Benoni Magistrate’s Court in Ekurhuleni in connection with the kidnapping of a religious leader.
The Moulana was kidnapped on the 12th of last month in Benoni.
Investigations led to a house in Katlehong where the kidnap victim was rescued and two men arrested.
Another suspect was nabbed in Benoni.
One of the suspects works for the Ekurhuleni Traffic Department.
Another is out on bail for cases related to cash-in-transit heists.
The suspects are all South Africans aged between 29 and 72. At least 15 cellphones and three firearms have been recovered. They face charges of kidnapping, extortion, and possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition.
