National Police Commissioner, General Khehla Sitole has applauded Crime Intelligence for rescuing a 28-year-old kidnap victim and securing five arrests earlier on Tuesday.

Tahseen Kardame was kidnapped on the 12th of November outside his father’s hardware franchise in Benoni. He has now been reunited with his family.

Police first arrested two suspects in Daveyton around midnight. One of them works for the Ekurhuleni Traffic Department. A third suspect was nabbed in Benoni on Tuesday morning.

Investigations then led to a house in Katlehong where the kidnap victim was rescued and two more men arrested. The suspects are all South Africans between the ages of 29 and 72 years old.

At least 15 cellphones and three firearms have been recovered. The suspects will appear in court on Thursday.
