The caretaker who found one of the sex worker’s body, Michael Damien, says Sifiso Mkhwanazi was the last person to enter the premises of his father’s business with a woman, when he discovered the bodies.

Damien is the first witness testifying at the Palmridge Magistrate’s court.

Mkhwanazi was arrested in October 2022 after six women’s bodies were found at his father’s panel beating business in Johannesburg.

He faces 22 charges including murder and rape. The 22-year-old admitted to killing the six sex workers.

Mkhwanazi entered the courtroom dressed in a black jersey, black trouser and his feet were cuffed with chains.

When the state prosecutor asked the caretaker how often he goes to the building, the caretaker said he visits the buildings Monday to Friday from 09:30 to 10:00.

He says when he went to the building, he was faced with a bad smell and decided to investigate.

He went to three offices and found the body inside the third office.

He says he used his phone for light to see because the room was dark.

Damien says he was with his son when he found the body.
