Eskom will implement Stage 2 load shedding from 21:00 on Saturday evening until 5:00 am Monday morning.

Eskom says it’s been forced to implement load shedding because units at Kusile, Amot and Medupi have gone down.

The cash-strapped power utility says there have also been delays in bringing a unit at the Tutuka power station back online.

Eskom says. “Total breakdowns have increased to 14 727MW while planned maintenance is 6 711MW of
capacity as we continue with the reliability maintenance.”

The power utility appeals to all South Africans to help reduce the usage of electricity by switching off
non-essential items.

“We will communicate promptly should there be any significant changes to the power system.”
