Eskom has announced the escalation of rolling blackouts to stage four with effect from 4 AM on Thursday morning.
Earlier, the power utility suspended load shedding during the day for the rest of the week.
Eskom says the escalation follows the loss of six generating units across the Kendal and Duvha power stations in Mpumalanga.
It says stage four load shedding will remain in place indefinitely.
Thursday , 22 February 2024:
Due to the loss of five generating units at Kendal Power Station and a generating unit at Duvha Power Station, Stage 4 loadshedding will be implemented at 04:00 today until further notice.
