ECG members gather outside court ahead of Bushiri’s appearance

Bushiri and his wife Mary were arrested on Tuesday for their alleged involvement in  fraud and money laundering worth over R100 million through an investment scheme.

Congregation members of the Enlightened Christian Gathering Church (ECG) have started to gather outside the Pretoria Magistrate’s Court where their pastor Shepherd Bushiri and his wife Mary Bushiri are due to appear on Wednesday morning.

The pastor handed himself over to police in Silverton, Pretoria while his wife was arrested at her residence in Sandton, north of Johannesburg on Tuesday.

The couple is accused of fraud and money laundering totalling R102 million, along with two other suspects who were arrested in Johannesburg at the weekend.

The other two, Willah Mudolo and Zethu Mudolo, have already appeared in the same court and are expected to apply for bail on the 30th of October.
