DA to debate De Lille motion of no confidence next week

Reading Time: < 1 minute

A new motion of no confidence in Cape Town Mayor Patricia De Lille will be debated by the Democratic Alliance (DA) caucus after a council meeting next week.

A vote on the matter will follow on the same day. The Federal Council has granted the party’s caucus in the city permission to hold a motion of no confidence in De Lille.

Earlier, DA leader in the province Bonginkosi Madikizela said the party’s Federal Executive Council had lost faith in her abilities to lead the city.

De Lille survived another motion of no confidence in February.

“That motion will be considered by the DA caucus after the council meeting on Wednesday, that’s in a week’s time. The caucus will then consider the issues and have the opportunity to express a vote which we will then communicate the results of to FedEx (Federal Executive),” says DA Caucus deputy leader, JP Smith.
