Andries Nel will meet with municipalities that are struggling to deliver services.

Cooperative Governance and Traditional Affairs (CoGta) Deputy Minister Andries Nel will visit some distressed municipalities in North West on Thursday and on Friday.

This comes after the cabinet has resolved to invoke section 100(1) in the province to administer most of its government departments and municipalities.

An Inter-Ministerial Task Team made of several Ministers was established to assess the challenges facing the province.

Nel will meet with  municipalities that are struggling to deliver services due to collapse of their governance and financial systems.

Meetings will be held with the provincial leadership, including the MEC for Cooperative Governance and Human Settlements Fenny Gaolaolwe, the mayors of the municipalities, the Provincial House of Traditional Leaders as well as key stakeholders such as North West University.
