Cape Town International Airport has released record-breaking figures for the 2023 summer season.
The international terminal recorded more than 317 000 two-way travellers in December alone.
Tourism information centre, Wesgro CEO, Wernelle Stander says the previous high of nearly 300 000 passengers was recorded in January 2020.
Stander says December’s figure is the highest monthly total ever recorded in the history of the airport.
“These are the highest figures ever recorded in the history of the airport. As a result, R 1.9 Billion foreign direct tourism spend has been injected into the Cape’s economy. The ongoing efforts of the Cape Town air access partnership continues to enhance the Western Cape’s global connectivity.”
