The Africa Centres for Disease Control and Prevention (ACDC) says Algeria and Tunisia are experiencing a 4th wave of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Algeria recently recorded over 157 000 coronavirus cases since the start of the pandemic, while Tunisia reported 555 000 infections.

Africa CDC Director, John Nkengasong says, “We are in the middle of a third wave across the continent and as we speak, 53% of our member states, 29 countries, are experiencing a severe third wave. Of that, 20 countries are experiencing a more aggressive third wave than previously observed…”

Two countries are experiencing a fourth wave Algeria and Tunisia, added Nkengasong.
