Former apartheid chemical warfare expert Wouter Basson was in the Appeals Court on Friday. He wants the court to overturn a finding by the Health Profesional Council of South Africa (HPCSA) that stripped him of his license to practice medicine.
Arguing against the decision, Basson wants to be allowed to practice medicine.
Basson’s counsel says the two council members professor Eddie Malinga and Janine Hugo need to recuse themselves.
But the two refused to step aside. The HPCSA counsel argued that Basson has the right to approach the appeal committee of the council for a hearing.
Judgment has been reserved.
