The African National Congress (ANC) says it has concluded its 2024 National and Provincial candidate list following what it says was a rigorous process.
The list will now be submitted to the Electoral Commission (IEC).
The deadline for submission is 5pm today.
In recent weeks political parties have launched their election manifestos ahead of this year’s general election on May 29th.
Some political parties have requested an extension of today’s deadline.
The ANC has been briefing the media at Luthuli House in Johannesburg.
Party spokesperson Mahlengi Bhengu-Motsiri, “We expect that our candidates will be aligned to the ANC manifesto. The list is representative of the nonracial, nonsexist as a promise of the SA constitution. The list features an intergenerational mix with young leaders stepping into the national body politics. The ANC electoral committee has followed a thorough interview and vetting process for all candidates to ensure a deployment of individuals characterized by the right skill set, integrity, experience, capabilities to serve the demand at provincial and national government.”
