Zambia’s former Minister of Health, Dr Chitalu Chilufya, says enough is being done to combat the Cholera outbreak that has hit the country.
This as authorities in the country have undertaken several measures to curb the ongoing Cholera outbreak.
Close to 600 deaths have been recorded, mostly in the hotspot Lusaka, since the beginning of the rainy season in October last year. Chilufya says Zambians must not relax because of the decline.
“I can confidently state that the cases outbreak is actually showing signs of abetting. As I said it shall be cautious, I’m saying to date we’ve recorded 16 258 cases but if we look at the epidemiological week of the 8 January 2024, that was the peak with more than 400 cases per day and beyond that we started seeing reduction. And where we stand today, we see on average 300 cases per day.”
