The South African Further Education and Training Students Association (SAFETSA) says colleges are ready to accommodate those who receive their matric results next week.

South Africa has about 50 TVET colleges. According to the department of Higher Education, more than half a million students enrolled at these colleges in 2021.

This reflected an increase of more than 30% compared to 2020. The class of 2023 is expected to increase these numbers even further.

SAFETSA chairperson Neo Rammole says registration for returning TVET students will be on Monday. He adds that colleges have allocated space for those expected to receive their matric results this coming Friday.

”NSFAS how it’s looking and how it’s coming together, it’s been moving very well. They have registered about 30% of the students who have applied, and they have approved them.

“Also it was the department of higher education and training which was telling us of the release of results which they did perfectly on time, we must applaud them for that. The one that we are working out is how to incorporate the late release of matric results, as they are releasing them on the 19th of January.”
