Presidential Spokesperson Vincent Magwenya has confirmed that President Cyril Ramaphosa will travel to France for Saturday’s Rugby World Cup final between the defending champion Springboks and New Zealand.

The President will also get an opportunity to meet the squad.

Saturday’s game is expected to be a legendary one between the two rugby giants, who played against each other over 100 times.

Magwenya made the remarks during his weekly briefing of the Presidents programme.

“The President will travel to Paris, France, to support the Springboks in their quest on Saturday the 28th of October to retain the Rugby World Cup Webb Ellis trophy. Of course, the President is really looking to be invited onto the pitch a second time by Siya Kolisi to help lift the cup for the world champions. This will be the first time any country will hold four Rugby World Cup titles. The President wishes the Springboks and the All Blacks well for this showcase which we hope will be memorable for the in-stadium audience and the global media audience. We are finalising our programme but President Ramaphosa will meet President Macron for bilaterals. The President will also visit the squad.”
