KZN ANCYL march against Chris Pappas underway

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The KwaZulu-Natal African National Congress Youth League (ANCYL) march against uMngeni Mayor Chris Pappas is underway in Howick in the province’s midlands.

They accuse Pappas of corruption and nepotism.

This is related to the alleged preferential treatment of uMngeni Tourism, in which Pappas’ partner JP Prinsloo is involved.

The league members are heading to the uMngeni municipal offices where they will deliver a memorandum.

The provincial task team coordinator Zamanguni Zondi says, “It is one of the NPOs receiving amounts [of money] which is said to be [belonging to] the fiancé … the director of that NPO. That is the main one that we are saying needs to be investigated.”

“The municipality has procurement processes that need to be followed in order for someone to be given money. Therefore, we are saying we want to know and see all the papers that led to this NPO receiving the money,” adds Zondi.
