More than 20 people have been killed on KwaZulu-Natal roads since the beginning of the Easter weekend.
In the latest incident, six people have been killed including four pedestrians and a driver of a bakkie in Bulwer Road at KwaGezubuso/KwaShange turn off outside Pietermaritzburg.
It is alleged that twelve pedestrians were walking along the road when they were knocked down a bakkie. Angry community members reportedly stabbed the driver of the bakkie to death.
Department of Transport spokesperson Kwanele Ncalane has appealed to community members not to take the law into their hands.
