Tjiane defends his title

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Veteran runner and two times Comrades marathon gold medalist, Charles Tjiane has defended his title at the Forever Resorts Loskop 50 km Ultra Marathon from Middleburg to Loskop dam in Mpumalanga.

Tjiane finished the race in 2 hours 54 minutes followed by Collin Paruru a few seconds later.

It was a fierce showdown between veteran Tjiane and the Zimbabwean athlete, Paruru, as they were inseparable for most of the race.

Channe Bosman won the women’s category with a time of 3 hours 21 minutes and last year’s winner Anne Ashworth followed seven minutes later.

This year’s race saw a record number of around 6000 entries who participated in the 50 km and 21 km races respectively.
