Maimane calls for visible policing in KZN

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Democratic Alliance (DA) leader Mmusi Maimane, who attended hijacking victim nine-year-old Sadia Sukhraj‘s funeral service on Tuesday at the Christian Revival Church in Chatsworth south of Durban, has called for a police service that could put the safety of the public first.

Sukhraj was fatally wounded in a botched hijacking at Shallcross south of the city.

Maimane says, “It’s about time now that we build a police service that will ensure our streets are much safer. We must ensure that criminals don’t run free. I will be taking this matter to Parliament to say as we usher in child protection week what kind of society are we when our children are being killed in this manner.”
