Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) leader Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi says he is worried that the country is embroiled in corruption, crime and violence. He adds that the poor education system causes the country’s youth to be unemployable. He says he is also worried that the national debate focuses on land expropriation without compensation, as though this will solve all the problems.
Buthelezi was addressing scores of IFP youth at the commemoration of Youth Day at Curries Fountain stadium in Durban. He says failed leadership has created the greatest barrier to the future of South Africa’s youth.
Scores of youngsters sang along with Inkosi Mangosuthu Buthelezi, in commemoration of Youth Day in Durban. Buthelezi did not mince his words against the escalating corruption in government circles in the country.
He says the education system in the country does not prepare the youth for the job market.
Meanwhile, Chairperson of the IFP Youth Brigade Mkhuleko Hlengwa has called on government to provide the youth of this country with a Youth Ministry. He says there are no proper platforms in government that deal directly with the challenges facing the country.
He has also made a clarion call to government to establish “Corruption Courts” in the country that will deal directly with the scourge of corruption, which he says has become a cancer.
The youth say the 1976 uprisings contributed immensely to their cause, which includes better education. Click below for more on Youth Day:
