Anti-Racism Week school programme kicks off

Reading Time: < 1 minute

The ‘anti-racism week’ school programme has officially kicked off. Tourism Minister Derek Hanekom attended the opening in Soweto on Monday.

The Ahmed Kathrada Foundation introduced an App that will allow subscribers to report incidents of racism.

Racism is the belief that one race is superior to another often resulting in discrimination and prejudice.

This ideology is what South Africa espouses in the past, but often it raises its ugly head, causing prejudice, pain and conflict.

But some organisations are doing all they can to respond to racism in South Africa.

This is exactly why the anti-racism schools week programme was developed to nurture the younger generation and steer them away from racist ideologies.

The programme will take place until the end of the week – with the hope of providing a countrywide focus on tackling racism.
