Mosimane on Musona, Modiba and Chiefs

Reading Time: 2 minutes

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has given up on signing SuperSport United player Aubrey Modiba in this current transfer window.

Modiba was linked to the PSL champions but SuperSport Chief Executive Officer Stan Matthews confirmed that his contract has been renewed for the long-term. Mosimane also says that Lucky Mohomi is not going to SuperSport.

Sundowns target Knowledge Musona has joined Belgian league side AS Eupen on loan until the end of the season.

Mosimane spoke of adding two more experienced strikers in his team and the Zimbabwean was a prime target. He says they tried signing him.

Meanwhile, Sundowns closed the gap on top of the log to just seven points, after beating SuperSport United 2-1 in Atteridgeville on Sunday.

Log leaders Kaizer Chiefs dropped two points against Black Leopards on Saturday, while Bidvest Wits lost to Cape Town City also on Saturday. Mosimane says he will comment about Wits not Chiefs.

The Brazilians won their first match against Supersport after losing to Orlando Pirates and drawing to Bidvest Wits prior to that. Mosimane says those were tough matches.

The PSL champions will be playing against Petro de Luanda from Angola in the CAF Champions League on Saturday.

Chiefs will be away to AmaZulu this weekend. Mosimane says it is tough to chase other teams when you have matches in hand.

Sundowns welcomed back talisman Themba Zwane who scored the first goal yesterday. He was sorely missed against Orlando Pirates last week. Mosimane says he is their key player.

Andile Jali has also been a revelation for the team in recent weeks. The former Bafana Bafana international struggled to break into the team when he first arrived from Belgium. Mosimane is very impressed with him.
