The United Democratic Movement (UDM) says it will start recruiting potential party candidates for the 2019 elections.

In his New Year message, party leader Bantu Holomisa, says 2018 is the year to work on South Africa and seek a reliable alternative to the African National Congress (ANC) to move the country forward.

Holomisa says the two major parties in the country – the ANC and the Democratic Alliance (DA) have both had a tough year with their voters.

He says the ANC’s decline over the past few elections and infighting within the DA has cost both parties some of their support.

Holomisa says the party will identify potential party candidates early in the New Year, followed by various readiness workshops to prepare them to represent the party during the 2019 elections.

He says as the year progresses, the party will continue fighting state capture and expose corruption.
