South Africa announced its squads for the upcoming limited-overs series against India, with Proteas One Day International (ODI) and T20 captain Temba Bavuma being one of two players who will be rested for the series.

Bavuma, who was out of form during the recent ICC Cricket World Cup in India and faced criticism for playing in the semi-final against Australia while not fully fit, will be allowed to play first-class cricket instead, in preparation for the test series.

Fast bowler Kagiso Rabada will also be rested for the limited-overs series, while Gerald Coetzee, Lungi Ngidi, and Marco Jansen will only be considered for the first two T20 Internationals.

The selection panel has included three new players in the squads, all from the Western Province trio of Mihlali Mpongwana, David Bedingham, and Nandre Burger.

Burger has been named in all three squads, Bedingham in the test squad, and Mpongwana in the ODI squad.

The limited-overs series against India will start with the first ODI on December 26 in Pretoria.
