As the global coronavirus death toll continues to rise, Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi has insisted that South Africa will be able to tackle an outbreak. He raised concerns over reports alleging that the country is not ready to deal with the virus.
Home Affairs has issued a braille marriage certificate, the first of its kind in the country, to a visually impaired couple from Kuilsriver during a mass wedding on Robben Island on Valentines Day.
While South Africa continues its efforts to extradite the controversial Gupta family, some of them are trying to renew their South African passports. This was revealed by Home Affairs Minister Aaron Motsoaledi during an interview with the SABC on Tuesday evening.
Large numbers of people are making their way to their festive destinations on the country’s major routes and authorities are appealing to people to maintain safe following distances and not to speed.
The Department of Home Affairs has assured South Africans that the country’s border posts are well guarded despite the occurrence of some security breaches.
