The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in South Africa remains under control at this stage.

It says 18 people have succumbed to COVID-19 related complications in the latest 24-hour reporting cycle. This takes the death toll to 89 197.

Meanwhile, the Health Department says 167 819 coronavirus vaccines have been administered in the same period. More than 11 000 of that number are children aged 12 to 17 – who got the Pfizer jab.
