The Special Investigating Unit (SIU) says it has made new discoveries in its National Lotteries Commission investigation. This includes the grant funding of a chicken farm to the value of R5 million linked to a non-profit company back in December 2018.

After receiving funding, the company allegedly sent money to actress, Terry Pheto, her sister, Dimakatso Pheto, and fashion designer, Thula Sindi.

The SIU appeared before Parliament’s Portfolio Committee for Trade and Industry to give an update on the second phase of its investigation.

SIU spokesperson Kaizer Kganyago says, “This was supposed to be used for a chicken farm, but it ended up being in disposed bank accounts. The principle in this one is not even specific for anyone, this money all of it the five million was not used for the farm that they were talking about.”

“This farm was bought by Professor (Alfred) Nevhutanda, who then gave it to Terry Pheto’s sister as a guise and therefore all this money was not used for the purposes of this farm.”
