Sharks have crunch game with Dragons

Reading Time: 2 minutes

The Sharks are all too aware that their Challenge Cup pool match against the Dragons from Newport, Wales, will more than likely determine the fate of their season.

Languishing at the bottom of the United Rugby Championship log, a win in the Challenge Cup will allow them to take control of their own destiny. A loss will make things a whole lot tougher for the Durban outfit.

Director of Rugby, Neil Powell, who is also acting as stand-in coach, is very aware they’ll have to work even harder for an away win in a freezing cold Wales. The Sharks play the Dragons in their final pool match at Rodney Parade in Newport, Wales. Kickoff is 7:30 on Sunday night.

“I hope it is a turning point but then again we can’t sit back and hope that it is a turning point. We actively have to go out there against the Dragons this weekend and make it happen. We know the challenge that we are up against not just the team that we are playing but also the conditions that we might face once we get in Wales. We obviously keep an eye on the weather conditions, it is mostly in the minuses and then it starts raining on the weekend,” says Powell.
