South Africa has recorded 8 881 new coronavirus infections in the last 24-hour cycle, taking the total number to 1 712 939.
The country has also recorded 127 new COVID-19 related fatalities on Wednesday. This brings the total number of deaths to 57 310.
Recoveries now stand at 1 589 501, representing a recovery rate of 92,8%.
The cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 11 985 750.
