SA records 1 480 new COVID-19 cases

South Africa has recorded 1 480 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of reported cases in the country to 668 529.

According to the Department of Health, the cumulative number of tests conducted to date is 4 117 079 with 14 917 new tests conducted since the last report.

29 new deaths have also been reported bringing the total number of COVID-19 related fatalities to 16 312.

The Health Department statement reads, “Regrettably, we report 29 more COVID-19 related deaths: 5 from Eastern Cape, 5 from KwaZulu-Natal, 5 from Gauteng, 2 from Limpopo, 8 from Northern Cape and 4  from Western Cape. This brings the total number of COVID-19 related deaths to 16 312. We extend our condolences to the loved ones of the departed and thank the healthcare workers that treated the deceased patients.”
