S Africans living abroad cast their votes

Voting
Reading Time: 2 minutes

Around 30 000 South Africans living abroad are casting their votes on Saturday hoping to make a difference in the 2019 General Elections. Most of those casting their votes abroad are in London in the UK.

While many are optimistic to make their mark,  some say they were not aware that they could vote.

“I do know about the elections, but didn’t realise that I could vote. Now that I know I will make sure that exercise my right. And I hope that everyone else does the same. ”

“We will be voting. Very excited to be doing so and as well get a chance to make a difference in South Africa and we get our voices heard.”

“Unfortunately I won’t be voting as it would be pretty expensive for me to get to a voting station, given my remote location.  But I do hope that people vote wisely. Our country deserves better. I will encourage all South Africans to ensure that they get out and cast their votes when they’re broad. We wish a great and fair and peaceful election.”
