ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa has promised Umlazi residents a dedicated and corruption free government.

Ramaphosa headed up the ANC’s local government campaign this weekend in KwaZulu-Natal.

Ramaphosa addresses supporters in Umlazi:

South Africa goes to the polls in local government elections on the first of November. Yesterday at Folweni on the province’s south coast, ANC supporters voiced their unhappiness over how the candidate process has played out in some wards.

Ramaphosa urged residents to call out incompetent councillors, without fear.

Ramaphosa says the ANC wants a well functioning local government structure. He says the party will no longer tolerate corrupt or incompetent councillors. He says ANC candidates have taken an oath to lead with integrity. He reassured Umlazi residents that ANC councillors would not steal funds that are meant to improve the lives of citizens.

Ramaphosa says the ANC wants to retain control of the eThekwini Metro.

He also encouraged residents to turn out in their numbers to vote.

He says on election day it must be clear that the ANC has taken over.
