President Cyril Ramaphosa was among those present at the ROC where the IEC announced the final election results.

President Cyril Ramaphosa says he was moved by seeing how millions of people peacefully cast their votes.

The President cited the vision of Nelson Mandela in celebrating the sixth general elections of the democratic era at the IEC’s Results Operations Centre in Pretoria.

President Ramaphosa was among those present at the ROC where the IEC announced the final election results.

The ANC suffered a drop in support of around five percentage points from the 2014 poll – securing 57.5% of the national ballot.

The DA also suffered a drop of around one and a half percentage points to just over 20%.

The EFF jumped more than four percentage points to close to 11%.

Ramaphosa says the Freedom Charter remains a guiding light.
