Police in Kwazakhele in Gqeberha say they arrested a 30-year-old male after he handed himself on Friday for the murder of his 30-year-old girlfriend.

It is alleged that the couple had an argument on Thursday at their residence in Jam Ally, Greenfield in Kwazakhele. He allegedly assaulted the woman with a pipe and then covered her with a blanket and left her lying on the floor.

The next morning he went to work and when he returned, he discovered that she was not moving. He then went to Kwazakele Police Station where he handed himself over to the police and the suspect was subsequently arrested for the murder.

The murder comes amid the country’s observance of 16 days of Activism against GBV campaign.
