The Hawks say they have arrested a man for being in possession of thousands of mandrax tablets at Parys in the Free State.
Officials received a tip-off of the vehicle that was transporting drugs from Gauteng.
Hawks spokesperson S’fiso Nyakane said, “Members acted strictly on information about a suspicious vehicle allegedly transporting mandrax tablets from Gauteng province to the Western Cape. The third vehicle was stopped, searched and 30 000 mandrax tablets valued at approximately R2.4 million as well as R15000 in cash were seized.”
The suspect is expected to make his first Court appearance on the 2nd October 2018 at Parys Magistrate Court and is facing charges of dealing in drugs. – Makgala Masiteng
