Hortgro says there have been no reports of listeriosis in the fruit industry thus far.

The organisation representing the deciduous fruit industry, Hortgro says there is no connection between deciduous fruit and the listeriosis outbreak.

On Sunday, Health Minister Aaron Motsoaledi revealed that the source of the outbreak has been traced to an Enterprise food production factory in Polokwane, Limpopo and Germiston in Johannesburg.

General Manager for Trade and Markets at Hortgro, Jacques du Preez says they have urged pack-houses and producers to undertake extra-precautionary measures and do extra testing on fresh fruit.

He says that there have been no reports of listeriosis in the fruit industry thus far.
