Ukraine’s ambassador to South Africa, Liubov Abravitova, says that as of Sunday morning nearly 4300 Russian soldiers were killed by the Ukraine forces and over 200 were taken as prisoners of war.

This as heavy fighting continues in Ukraine where Russian soldiers invaded four days ago.

The move has caused widespread outrage with the European Union and NATO partners imposing sanctions against Russia and its President, Vladimir Putin.

There have also been protests around the world against Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.

Abravitova also says that they’re controlling the situation of the African students who are still in Ukraine.

“We are controlling the situation and keeping them safe. The borders are overcrowded, we’re trying to work closely with ambassadors in Ukraine, for these African countries, to facilitate the movement of the children. We are also in contact with the parents of some of them, our phone numbers are on the web page that anyone who urgently needs our support can contact us.”
