Nine people have died and twenty others injured in a multiple car crash on the N3 highway near the Barry Marais off-ramp in Vosloorus, east of Johannesburg. The collision involved four cars and four trucks.

ER24’s Russell Meiring confirmed the crash, ” ER24 Paramedics along with other several services arrived on the scene to find out that at least four light motor vehicles and four trucks had collided. Several patients were found lying tapped inside the vehicles, at least twenty others were found scattered on the scene. Paramedics attended to the patients and found that nine people have sustained multiple injuries. Unfortunately, nothing could be done for them.”

At least twenty other patients were attended to on the scene. Assessments showed that the injuries sustained ranged from minor to critical.

Medics from various services treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions. Once treated, the patients were transported by various services to nearby hospitals.

The details surrounding this incident are not yet known but local authorities were on the scene for further investigations.
