Balindlela joined the DA in 2012 after leaving COPE, which she joined in 2009.

Former Eastern Cape premier and DA member Nosimo Balindlela says the decision to leave the DA was not an easy one.

She announced her decision to re-join the ANC yesterday after leaving the party in 2008.

Balindlela says she appreciated the professionalism that DA leaders displayed in running the party, but her heart was always with the ANC.

She joined the DA in 2012 after leaving COPE which she joined in 2009. Balindlela spoke with journalists to explain what motivated her decision.

“When I was in the Democratic Alliance there are things which I so woke up to which I so much enjoyed. Their administration is 100%. But there was always this call made by Ramaphosa.”

Balindlela furthermore states that even though the DA is “doing things well”, there is much more of a need for people like her to work in the ANC and, most importantly, the rural areas the party can reach.
