Minister of Home Affairs Aaron Motsoaledi has dismissed as fake news a video of alleged overcrowding at the Lindela Repatriation Centre in Krugersdorp, on Gauteng’s Westrand.
The video, believed to have been filmed at the weekend, shows foreign nationals inside an overcrowded facility. It was posted on social media by an organisation calling itself the Black Power Civil Rights Movement, raising concerns over lack of social distancing.
Motsoaledi says lockdown regulations are being adhered to at the centre.
“The Department of Health has just been there recently. They actually screened all of them and even sent those who are suspicious for testing, all of them were found to be negative. And they provide them with sanitisers and masks. We’ve also got the Department of Health who has been hired by the service provider there who are staying there all the time and taking care of them. At any time there are two nurses on duty there. “

South Africa is currently under Level-4 lockdown and government has asked citizens to continue abiding by the regulations. Everyone is now expected to wear a mask when they leave home. There are currently  7220 cases of coronavirus in the country.

Below is a graph with Level-4 lockdown regulations:
