Chief Justice Mogoeng Mogoeng has expressed concern over the recent reported comments by Kenyan President Uhuru Kenyatta that disrespected the judiciary.
‘
Last week, Kenya’s Supreme Court cancelled the country’s election results, citing irregularities in the voting system.

Kenyatta accepted the ruling, but reportedly called the judges crooks.

Mogoeng says the remarks are most unfortunate, ill-advised and disturbing.

Speaking also as the President of the Conference of Constitutional Jurisdictions of Africa, he says the concern is that Kenyatta’s comments could be interpreted as incite-full.

Mogoeng says the utterances inadvertently project judges as enemies of the will of the people who must be “fixed”.

The Chief Justice extended his support to his Kenyan counterpart and the judiciary for their commitment to their oath of office.
