Lesufi urges parents to respond to school placement offers for their children

Gauteng Education MEC Panyaza Lesufi has warned parents and guardians that failure to respond to the department’s offers for the 2022 online school admissions could result in children losing out on placements. Lesufi was speaking during a media briefing in Newtown, Johannesburg.

Over 120 000 school placements have been offered via the online application system with 75 000 responses still outstanding.

Lesufi says, “We’ve got 75 000 parents that have not accepted the placements. We have other parents that have not received the SMSes because the schools are already full. So the failure of the 75 000 to accept will then go to those still waiting.”

“The deadline for parents to get the final SMS is the 30th of November. By then, if you have not received the SMS it means that you have missed out.”
