KZN, Cape Town crashes claim 12 lives

Twelve people have been killed in crashes in KwaZulu-Natal and Cape Town.

Six people died in a collision between two motor vehicles on the R103 near the Midmar Dam in the KwaZulu-Natal Midlands.

KZN Emergency Medical Rescue Services Spokesperson Robert Mckenzie says the motorway has been cleared.

“There was a crash involving two motor vehicles. Tragically, six people have sustained fatal injuries in this crash. The exact cause for this specific crash is not known at this stage and is being investigated by the police,” says Mckenzie.

Meanwhile, six other people have also been killed after the car they were travelling in overturned on the N2 near Macassar outside Cape Town.

Cape Town Fire and Rescue Spokesperson Theo Layne says four men and two women lost their lives in this incident.

The cause of the incident is being investigated.
