KwaZulu-Natal police are investigating three cases of murder and seven of attempted murder, following a drive-by shooting in KwaMakhutha south of Durban on Sunday afternoon.

Police spokesperson Thembeka Mbhele says it is believed that the victims were attacked while they were consuming alcohol in a house.

Mbhele says some of the victims are believed to be related.

“Police are investigating three counts of murder and seven of attempted murder after an incident that happened in KwaMakhutha area where about ten people were seated drinking liquor just next to the hostel in KwaMakhutha and there was a vehicle that came by and it opened fire to them. Three of them were taken to the clinic, who died at the clinic and the other seven were rushed to the hospital. The motive of the attack is unknown at the moment.”
